A statement weekend showing NC can run with anyone when we are United.
NC United closed the weekend with a 7β2 dual record. The squad notched statement wins over Roundtree, Michigan Premier Red, Virginia Predators, DoughBoy, Gold Medal, M2, and a shutout of Outsiders. Our only setbacks were a tight criteria loss to eventual champion Michigan Premier Blue after a 30β30 tie, and a narrow loss to 4M.
We wrestled with grit across the lineup, earned bonus in bunches, and finished with three undefeated athletes. Momentum is real.
NC United celebrating together after a statement weekend at UCD 2025
NC United's 2025 performance represents significant growth from our inaugural 2024 season. Moving from a pools-and-bracket format to true round-robin competition, we improved across every key metric while facing tougher, more consistent competition throughout the weekend.

---|---|---|---|
Format | Pools + bracket | Full round-robin | β |
Placement | 2nd (Gold Pool) | 3rd (True 3rd Overall) | β |
Team win rate | 71% | 78% | +7 pts |
Individual win rate | 58.1% | 69.6% | +11.5 pts |

Veteran leadership trio: Tobin McNair (left), Mac Johnson (center), and Bentley Sly (right) after their dominant performances
Our core returned intact with six vets from last year's UCD teamβBentley Sly, Carson Raper, Eli Taylor, Tobin McNair, Jack Harty, and Mac Johnsonβand they delivered exactly what you'd expect (Sly 9β0, Harty 9β0, Johnson 8β1, McNair 7β2, Raper 6β3, Taylor 6β3). The newcomers to UCD made an immediate impact, headlined by Gavin Lopez (9β0) and Jacob Perry (8β1), plus strong weekends from Sam Harper (6β3), Aiden White (6β3), and Jekai Sedgwick (4β5)βall three having previously wrestled for our NHSCA Dual teamβalong with first-time NC United wrestlers Jaxon Thomas (5β4), Aaron Ellison (5β4), Braylon Butts (4β5), and Blayden Thompson (2β7). Bottom line: a young roster with real depth, reinforced by battle-tested leaders.
What athletes and families said about UCD 2025
"It was a great experience, only suggestion or feedback would be to take more teams so as many of the athletes have the opportunity to compete with higher level competition. NC United has so many good kids and everybody is eager to get better. If it was possible of course."
"The level of competition was perfect for my son's development. He faced tough opponents but felt supported by the coaching staff throughout."
"Great organization and communication. The tournament ran smoothly and we always knew what was happening next."
"The team gear quality was excellent and my wrestler felt proud representing NC United. The coaching was top-notch."
Feedback collected from both Blue and Gold team participants shows strong satisfaction with the tournament experience, competition level, and organizational quality. Suggestions for improvement focus on additional practice opportunities and team building.
